Pentecost

Pentecost is one of the most important holidays in the Christian Calendar. The word Pentecost actually means fiftieth day. Pentecost is celebrated fifty days after Easter and falls on the tenth day after Ascension Thursday. Jesus ascended into heaven. Ten days later, the Holy Spirit descended to the apostles during a festival and they were motivated to proclaim the gospel of the risen Christ. It is said that Peter baptized three thousand converts on that day and it is considered the birth of the church.
