I do feel presssure to teach to the test because third graders must learn the format. Also, we are in the first year out of emergency.. i hate it! What brainiac came up with 8 year olds sitting for 2.5 hours? Do they ever read the research about the attention span of an 8 year old? Seriously, to think everyrhing we do to make sure our kids are successful is judged by two 2.5 tests! Shame on the powers that be!

No. If you teach to students rather than at them you get better results in the long run - you also don't get the "is it going to be on the test" comments and the class learns to learn rather than pass the next test!

While uniforms may not be the answer, there must be some dress code. I have found dress code influences attitude and attitude is everything when it comes to learning.

No, and WOW am I thankful to not have to teach to some test! I feel so sorry for teachers having to chain themselves and their students to these blasted standardized tests! I think it's the worst mandate to try and corral human beings creative intelligence into standardized learning! Even our founding fathers, many of which, were self taught learners. We are all truly natural learners. How does one truly measure and standardize true learning??? And then turn around and forget most of what is on the test? What sense does that make? We should not have to be bound by societies growing rigidity. I found a creative way to be unshackled and I intend to stay so. Unleash your gift! Join educational alternatives! Think outside the box. Don't be afraid! We can make a big difference. For those of you who don't resonate with me, to each his own. We all choose our path. I'm glad that I can make a difference in my students lives and study what I'm most passionate about and present material in an exciting way....my way. I'm the professional with the gift and years of experience. NOT the state.
