If the people resonsible for this ridiculous legislation had any clue as to the reality of education, they would not have foisted this nonsense on the American people in the first place. PLEASE, admit your mistake and let's eliminate NCLB for good! Why continue the damage?

I would like to vote "C. None of the above". As an ESE teacher for students with severe intelllectual disabilities, the proposed waiver can only hurt teachers and more importantly students. The Alternate Assessment is an unrealistic assessment that measures nothing of value for these children. The IEP should supercede any state or federal mandate. It is a mutually agreed upon plan to best meet the individual needs of each student. Politicians need to back off and let families and school personnel meet the unique needs of this very special population.

Holding a teacher accountable for the student's test performance is NEVER a good idea. I've seen desperate teachers "help" their students on tests when this was experimented with in my district. Most teachers want their students to succeed, but making them accountable for how the child does on a test is as ridiculous as holding a doctor accountable for a patient's lung cancer.

NCLB is a joke first of all. Anyone who believes that a classroom of students can achieve at 75, 80 85% is worse off than those who wrote the law. I do not want my salary, or evaluations tied to how much I am supposed to raise achievement. No teacher knows the product that you will receive at the beginning of the year. If you have a principal who does not care for you, and we all know that does exist, you can imagine what you will be given at the beginning of the year, and every year until you burn out and quit. While I agree something needs to be done this is not the way. Teachers no longer have respect, teachers no longer can teacher what they know should be taught, teachers are no longer teachers.
