World Health Day

Did you know that April 7th is World Health Day? Founded in 1950 by the World Health Organization, World Health Day is designed to focus worldwide attention to a subject of major importance to global health each year. For example, in 2010 the theme was "Urbanization and health." The purpose was to make cities healthier. In 2011 the theme was "Anti-microbial Resistance: No Action Today, No Cure Tomorrow."

You can embrace world health day in your classroom too! As a teacher you can embrace the annual theme or you can take your own approach to the holiday. Teacher Planet has teaching resources for you, however you choose to approach the national holiday.

Classroom Resources for World Health Day

Teacher Planet has an abundance of teaching resources to teach about ancient medicine, using the five senses, the importance of hand washing and much more. You can even take a career day approach to the holiday and discuss the many different types of medical professionals and how to have a career as a doctor.

Lesson plans, teaching units, and teaching resources all help you create and organize the information you wish to present to your students. Worksheets, including coloring pages, hands on activities and clip art all help you make the lesson lively and easier to understand.
